If you haven’t been to the Smoking In The Foothills Barbecue Competition and Festival, this year’s event is one you WOODn’t want to miss!

Held in Downtown Lenoir next Friday and Saturday, Oct. 19 and 20, Smoking In The Foothills combines the fun of a family-friendly festival with the excitement of a sanctioned barbecue competition.

Jim Quick & Coastline will take the Downtown Lenoir stage Friday night, Oct. 19, 2018, during the Smoking In The Foothills Barbecue Competition and Festival!

Downtown Economic Development Director Kaylynn Horn said this year’s festival will add new events, bring back some favorite attractions, and pay homage to Lenoir’s furniture factory roots.

“We’re bringing back the People’s Choice Competition, which everyone loves, and we’re adding an awesome music line up with Jim Quick & Coastline,” Horn said. “Plus, we’re putting a focus on our heritage with a furniture factory tour and a cool workshop about new furniture industry technology. Next weekend, we’ll be Smoking up great BBQ in the furniture capital of the South.”

Smoking In The Foothills Barbecue Competition and Festival will offer live music, a wood crafters’ showcase, kid’s area, raffles, People’s Choice Pulled Pork & BBQ Wings Judging, poker run, cornhole tournament, and more!

During the People’s Choice Competition, festivalgoers get to taste and vote on who has the best chicken wings and pulled-pork. The wing tasting will be Friday and the pulled-pork tasting will be Saturday. The competition is first-come, first-serve, so get some while you can.

Andrew Massey & the Midnight Americans will take the Downtown Stage Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm followed by Jim Quick & Coastline from 7:00 to 10:00 pm. Live music Saturday will include Terry Edwards, The Classics, Rooted, Chad Triplett & Two Lane Blacktop, and FracXured.

In addition to the people’s choice competition and great music, vendors will line the streets downtown Friday night and this year’s event will offer workshops including:
