Christmas Tea Party

Christmas Tea Party

A CHRISTMAS TEA PARTY AT CALDWELL HERITAGE MUSEUM

The young ladies attending Davenport College for Women would certainly have experienced the ritual of “taking tea.”  The leisurely pace of life in days gone by would have allowed the ladies of Caldwell County to take the time for a simple but elegant tradition of a tea party during the holiday season that is now upon us.  This year the Caldwell Heritage Museum offers an echo of the era when a Christmas Tea Party was a welcome social event in the life of small towns and communities throughout America.

The Tea is a fund-raising activity for the operational expenses of the Museum.  Tickets are $25 each, and may be purchased at the Museum or from members of the Board of Directors.  The Museum is a non-profit organization that is not a governmental agency.

On Saturday, December 14, the Caldwell Heritage Museum will host two seatings of a Christmas Tea Party at the Museum located at 112 Vaiden St. SW in downtown Lenoir.  The seatings will be at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 a.m.

The guests will be treated to hot tea, baked treats and pastries prepared by the hostesses of the Museum.  A variety of classic tea cups and saucers will be provided from which each guest shall select to “take tea.”  At the end of the party each guest will take the selected cup and saucer as a memento.   Entertainment will be provided in the form of music and recollections of the days of a tea party as part of American Culture.
