Historic Walker Stadium is in located just blocks from restaurants and shops in Downtown Lenoir. The stadium is named after two local heroes – brothers Verlon and Rube Walker. Verlon was a longtime coach for the Chicago Cubs, while Rube was a catcher for the Dodgers in both Brooklyn and Los Angeles, and for the Chicago Cubs.

Today Walker Stadium is home to the Cobras, Caldwell Community College & Technical Institutes men’s baseball team.

Lenoir Legends

Athletics at CCC&TI

Much of the success of Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute, including intercollegiate athletics stems directly from the generosity of benefactors and sponsors. In 1974 CCC&TI started with men’s basketball. In the years that followed the college added women’s basketball. In the fall of 2018, CCC&TI announced the addition of Baseball and Women’s Softball to begin play in Fall 2019.
