Lenoir Bicycle Fest 2024
The Lenoir Bicycle Festival is a family-friendly event focusing on bicycling and outdoor activity. Held in Downtown Lenoir, the Lenoir Bicycle Festival gives everyone a chance to ride around on downtown streets, conquer obstacle courses and bike challenges, take bike safety and maintenance classes, and visit all our great downtown shops and restaurants. We want to get people on bikes and bikes on our wonderful greenway, trails, and downtown.
- Time: The festival starts at 10:00 am and ends at 4:00 pm.
- Street Ride: There will be a free-ride lane around a downtown block that you can ride any time during the event.
- Obstacle Courses: We’ll have three obstacle courses on Main Street and West Avenue – two easy and one advanced. The obstacle courses will have rumble boards and humps, ramps, balance beams, seesaws, limbo bars, and more. Riders can try out the courses all day. We may even change them up mid-event.
- Freeze Frame Challenge with Prizes: How many times can you stop your bicycle, balance, and start again on our Freeze Frame Challenge Course? If your feet touch the ground, then you’re out. But don’t worry, you can try again. Riders will get free tickets for a separate prize drawing based on how well they can FREEZE FRAME!
- Bicycle Safety Class: The Lenoir Police Department will host a Bicycle Safety class on North Main Street. Participants who complete the class will receive a free bicycle helmet while the last. The helmets are provided by the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
- Bike Shop and Community Vendors: Local bike shops and community groups will set up tents and show their wares and services.
- The Impossible Backwards Bicycle: The Impossible Backwards Bike (IBB). Challenge yourself to ride the IBB 12 feet without touching the ground!
- Prize Drawings: We’ll also be handing out tickets for entries to win lots of cool prizes. You must be present to win.
- Touch a Truck: The City Police, Fire, Public Works, and county EMS will have vehicles on site that visitors and touch and check out
The festival starts at 10:00 am. There will be a free ride lane around a downtown block that you can ride any time during the event.

- 10:00 am – Welcome from Mayor Joe Gibbons, Thank you to our Sponsors
- 10:00 am to 1:00 pm – Bicycle Safety Classes (free helmets)
- 2:00 – Drawing for Prizes (You must be present to win.)
- 3:30 – Time Trial Winners Announced
- 4:00 pm – Event Close
BRING YOUR OWN BICYCLE & HELMET!
In North Carolina, children under 16 riding on a public roadway, public bicycle path, or other public right-of-way must wear a properly fitted bicycle helmet. Click here to read the State’s bicycle helmet law.
If you don’t have a helmet, plan to take the bicycle safety class and get a free helmet while they last.
Please note that children 15 and under must wear a helmet, all obstacle courses, time trials, and challenges require a helmet. Please do not leave children unattended during this event.
