Starry Night Christmas Parade

The Downtown Lenoir Starry Night Christmas Parade is a much-loved holiday tradition in the city. High school bands march and dance team performances, numerous community groups and businesses enter floats, and Santa visits every year!

All parade applications must be submitted online! Each vehicle application must have a driver attached and be 21 or older with a valid driver’s license. Please ensure the driver’s info matches with the vehicle they will be driving in the Parade.
Applications will be open on Monday, September 16th, 2024. The deadline for applications is Monday, December 2nd, 2024 at 5:00pm.

Street Closures

• Street Closures will begin at 3:30 pm for the Parade Line-Up area.
  • College Avenue will be closed from Willow Street to Virginia Street including all intersections in between.
  • Harper Avenue will be closed from Willow Street to West Avenue.
• Additional Street Closures will begin at 5:00 pm for the Parade Route.
  • Harper Avenue will be closed from Mulberry Street to West Avenue.
  • Mulberry Street will be closed from Harper Avenue to Ashe Avenue.
  • Ashe Avenue will be closed from Mulberry Street to Main Street.
  • Main Street will be closed from Ashe Avenue to Harper Avenue.
  • West Avenue will be closed from Mulberry Street to Broadway Street.

Dos and Don’ts for Participants & Spectators

DOs

Walk beside your float/vehicle and hand out candy
Supervise all children
Play appropriate music if desired
Stay on the sidewalk and behind barricades
Spread Christmas cheer
Dress for the Christmas holiday
Report lost children to police
Drive to the end of the unloading zone before unloading your float/vehicle

DO NOT

Throw candy or other items from floats or vehicles
Leave children unattended
Use a portable PA system to talk to the crowd
Put children on floats for photos
Distribute printed materials
Dress like Santa
Ignore children who appear to be lost
Stop before the end of the route to unload your float/vehicle
