Gather your friends and neighbors together and help keep Lenoir clean next month during Litter Sweep.

Traditionally scheduled for the last two weeks of April and September, Litter Sweep is the N.C. Department of Transportation’s (NCDOT) biannual statewide roadside litter removal initiative. The next statewide Litter Sweep will be Sept, 14-28, 2019.

All residents have to do to participate is get a group of friends together, get some litter pickup supplies, and contact their NCDOT litter program coordinator to let them know. County NCDOT Maintenance offices will provide cleanup supplies to Litter Sweep volunteers. Supplies include reversible orange/blue trash bags, gloves, and orange safety vests.

Lenoir and Caldwell County residents can call the Caldwell County NCDOT Maintenance Yard office at 828-726-2512 to get Litter Sweep supplies.

In addition to volunteers, NCDOT maintenance crews devote one week of their time during Litter Sweep to pick up litter and collect the orange bags placed on the roadsides by volunteers.
